Project TwistoTuesday

Hello all #twisto (and #glasto) people!

In response to scattered requests and talk of follow up #twisto meetings after the fun we had at Glastonbury 2009 and after a bit of unilateral planning and pseudo dictatorship, I am activating Project TwistoTuesday (#twistotuesday).

THE PLAN:

The plan is as follows : Viv (@vivyouell) and I (@steamrunner) will be at the Riverside Terrace at the Royal Festival Hall on the South Bank in London on Tuesday 28th July from approximately 7pm (ish!). Anyone who wishes to come along for beer, chat, laughs etc is of course very welcome!  To find us, look for the, er, chicken

That’s it, that’s the plan. No hoo-ha or fanfare, just turn up if you’re around and feel like it. Feel free to come along for a little bit and just say a quick hello, or stay for a little while. Bring friends (or even enemies) if you feel like it. After all, it’s not our bar – we’re just invading it unexpectedly.

Now, not that we really need to know (just turn up!) but if you’re interested and want to come along we’d like to hear from you – if at least so the chicken knows it can’t drink the entire bar on it’s own. Just drop us a tweet or to #twistotuesday or comment here on ye olde blog if you feel like it. Additional suggestions and ideas welcome too of course (maybe for future venues – good pub suggestions always welcome!)

If we all have a laugh and it works, maybe TwistoTuesday can become a regular-ish event in the diary, maybe the last Tuesday in the month (or every second month or whatever), and we can all just get together and chill out for a bit, make new friends and generally have a nice time.  Yep, I know it’s in London and a lot of you live miles away and can’t make it, but we needed to start somewhere…

LOCATION:

The Royal Festival Hall is part of the South Bank centre, right on the River Thames, located very close to the London Eye and a couple of minutes walk from Waterloo train station and underground.  Details can be found at http://www.southbankcentre.co.uk/visiting-us. There are also two PDF maps linked at the bottom of that page showing where the Hall and terrace are located.  We will aim to be at the first floor Riverside terrace outside bar. If the weather is particularly bad we’ll decamp just inside.

UPDATE: there’s the possibility, if everyone wants to, of decamping a bit later to the pub for a change of venue (and a more varied drinks menu). If we do, the likely venue is The White Hart at 29 Cornwall Road (which apparently sells Brother’s Cider!) which is a few minutes walk away. I’ve not been there, so I hope it’s good… !

Hope you can make it!!

@steamrunner (Scott) and @vivyouell (Viv)

(with special thanks to @Glastowatch, because we’re somewhat hijacking #twisto a bit… :-)

@Glastowatch had a cracking idea, in that we should ideally find a pub that sell’s Brother’s Cider. Well, according to the Brother’s web site there is one just around the corner from Festival Hall. For the moment, the plan stands as is and, maybe, after a little while, we can decamp to the pub for a change of scenery and some good cider (if not festie strength)…

It probably needs it’s own page, but talk of a #twistoSW has been trolling around for a while, with a possible date of Saturday 19th September. @BrokenStruggle has suggested Bristol as a location (if a city is most appropriate), which sounds sensible and there are some great pubs there. Again, comments, discussion, etc etc all welcome…

There’s a chance that after meeting we might decamp to the pub. The pub around the corner which (apparently) serves Brother’s Cider (according to the Brother’s web site) is called the White Hart and is at 29 Cornwall Road. I’ve not personally been there, so don’t blame me, but hopefully it’s OK. Here’s a link to Google Maps:
